How I work

I teach embroidery and textile design to people who have never held a needle, and to designers who have held one for twenty years.

Workshops run in Sydney and internationally - at UNSW, at the Australian Design Centre, and each summer at Córtex Frontal in Portugal.

Groups stay small. Materials are provided. You leave with something you made with your own hands, and with the skills to make the next one on your own.

Workshops

Hands-on embroidery for beginners and for people who already stitch and want to go further. We start with thread, colour and the stitches that do the most work, then you build a piece of your own. No experience needed, and no one is behind.

Masterclasses

For textile and design students, working designers and studios: surface pattern, repeat, colourways, and how a drawing becomes a fabric that can actually be manufactured. This is the same process I use in commissioned work.

Lectures and Talks

For universities, galleries, festivals and design teams. On colour and pattern, on making a life as a textile designer, and on why hand-work still matters in an industry that could do without it. I've spoken for Sydney Craft Week, the Australian Design Centre, and the International School of Colour and Design.

Rest.Hearts.Hands.

A slower format, developed with Temple Yoga and Manumission in Sydney. Embroidery as a reason to sit down, put the phone somewhere else, and use your hands for two hours. It has turned out to be the workshop people bring their friends back to.
