New embroidery piece for the ‘Little Things’ art show
(Theme: what makes you happy or feel grateful)
For this piece, I chose to embroider my new chair—a small but meaningful presence in my kitchen. I’ve recently moved into a new home, and having a kitchen again has brought me so much joy.
The chair itself was a lucky find at a local warehouse sale—an early Australian Federation piece, circa 1890s, with a carved Kangaroo and Waratah flower motif. I was instantly drawn to its history, craftsmanship, and charm. It’s actually a children’s chair, but it happens to be the perfect size for me.
For me, this chair is more than furniture. It represents a new chapter—a gentle, grounding symbol of home, heritage, and the small, beautiful things that make daily life feel rich and connected.
